Today, 32 snow industry corporations and ski resorts joined together with Protect Our Winters to support the recent EPA carbon standards, which were announced on June 2nd.
The letter, sent to President Barack Obama, and endorsed by some of the most influential brands in snow sports, applauded the federal government’s efforts to reduce carbon pollution under the Clean Air Act. The standards propose limits on carbon emissions from existing power plants, reducing carbon emissions 30% below 2005 levels.
We’re thrilled to have the snow sports community continue to take bold action against climate change – clearly a direct risk to our industry if left unaddressed. But by supporting the EPA’s carbon standards, we’re seizing an opportunity to transition to a new, economically-beneficial, clean energy economy.
