Coal Kills Snow

Coal is killing snow...that's a fact. Mining and burning coal is the dirtiest and most environmentally destructive process to generate power - the resulting CO2 has a direct negative effect on climate change. Our mountain regions are in the cross-hairs of climate change, yet host many dirty coal projects.
Reducing our dependence on coal is the single most focused thing we can do to fight climate change and we have the collective power to do it.
Coal Kills Snow is a coalition of organizations who's mission is to build awareness of dirty coal projects in our mountain and wilderness areas and to transition them to alternative, cleaner energy sources.
Together, we represent a community of people who share the same concern. Please get involved with us.

POW Welcomes Amy Guinan To Head Up “Coal Kills Snow” Effort

Protect Our Winters is pleased to announce that Amy Guinan has joined POW to head up their “Coal Kills Snow” effort, launching this month, in partnership with The Sierra Club.  “Coal Kills Snow” is a program to heighten awareness throughout the winter sports community about dirty coal and to target and shut down coal mines and coal fired power plants in our mountain and wilderness areas.

Amy has extensive coal and community outreach experience while working with Clean Energy Action in Boulder, CO and will be heading up all aspects of the Coal Kills Snow initiative, including program management, online activism and strategic alliances.  POW is really excited to have Amy on board and looking forward to working with her on this very important program.
