Protect Our Winters (POW) is a tax exempt, non-profit organization dedicated to reversing the global warming crisis by uniting the winter sports community and focusing our collective efforts towards a common goal. They focus on initiatives to help change consumer habits and provide funds for renewable energy projects that reduce the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.  Any contribution amounts are accepted and all POW members will receive a POW sticker and a monthly newsletter shortly after joining. Burton GMP Bindings

The Burton Cartel (Men’s) and Lexa (Women’s) GMP Snowboard Bindings are the industry's first environmentally friendly bindings! The new Green Mountain Project inspired bindings come equipped with an EVA/cork blended padding in the ultra minimized ShredBED™ and high backs. The Superstraps include mesh made from recycled plastic bottles and synthetic eco-leather that eliminates the use of toxic PVC.  The baseplates and high backs are both made using a zero waste process that reduces paint and utilizes recycled materials wherever possible.  These bindings are made exclusively for Burton boards featuring the ICS.  Learn more at burton.com!

Burton EcoNico Snowboard

The EcoNico, Burton’s first environmentally-friendly snowboard, aims to seek the smallest footprint by utilizing renewable resources and minimizing toxins as much as possible.  Natural materials such as green wax (a combo of bee’s wax, carnauba wax, and soy oil) give the board extra zip without using earth-damaging chemicals. The edges and base are also manufactured from recycled materials. This board is great for smashing down the groomers, launching booters in the backcountry, slashing through the tree runs, catching big air in the park or pipe, and saving the planet.  Specifications include:

-Grip and Rip™ Edge Tune

-The Channel- the easiest, most adjustable mounting system ever. Compatible with any Burton binding, but best when paired with one of their EST™ bindings. Both channel plugs are made from recycled materials.

Green Wax

Green Wax is a TRUE Universal performance wax made from all natural ingredients. To make a wax that is Green, Green Wax had to do a few things differently than the traditional companies. Traditional waxes contain perfluorocarbons (PFCs) and petroleum. PFCs are extremely potent greenhouse gases, with a lifetime up to 50,000 years. A production derivative of PFCs is a chemical known as perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), which has been linked to lower birth weight in people and animals, liver damage, as well as cancer. These chemical residuals then get left behind on the mountain, and penetrate into our waterways. When produced, these waxes are made in large quantities, and extruded with complex machines. This uses excess energy, and creates additional waste. Our wax is made from all natural ingredients containing no PFCs or petroleum. We produce it in small batches to ensure quality and consistency. Each batch is then hand poured directly into our recycled packaging, eliminating the need for molds or extrusion machines. The all-natural mix is formulated to provide pro-level glide, maximum adhesion, and ease of application.
